Issue #30: The Beatles, Cringe Comedy, Cool Houses, and My Upcoming Summer Hiatus
Paul McCartney's photography exhibit at San Francisco's de Young Museum, a new movie with Tim Robinson, four exceptional homes currently for sale, and a guide to the Silvert Lining's back catalog.
The Silvert Lining is a place where I talk about real estate, cool homes for sale, things I’m looking forward to, and how I’ve been spending my time. In addition to this newsletter, I also post regularly on Instagram. You can follow me at Dan Silvert Homes. If you would like to meet with me to discuss your home search, you can schedule time here.

San Francisco’s de Young museum currently has Paul McCartney Photographs 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm on display through July 6. The exhibition features 250 personal photographs McCartney took between December 1963 and February 1964. I went to the de Young last week and was blown away by the exhibition, which McCartney curated. In the images McCartney immortalized, the Beatles are so young and the perspective is intimate and personal; he captures his bandmates backstage at their concerts, jamming in hotel rooms on tour, goofing around on their days off, and greeting increasingly large crowds. I found the photos - especially those of my favorite Beatle, George Harrison - so moving that I found myself tearing up several times.
A nice companion podcast is this episode of History Daily about the Beatles 1964 debut on the Ed Sullivan Show as McCartney’s photographs document that performance.
Earlier this week I saw the new A24 movie Friendship at the Piedmont Theatre. For the uninitiated, Friendship is a new dark comedy starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd. I am a huge fan of Robinson’s comedy from his stint on Saturday Night Live to his Netflix sketch comedy show I Think You Should Leave. His humor is laugh-out-loud funny and painfully cringy.
In Friendship, Robinson plays a self-absorbed suburban dad who works in middle management for a corporation that aims to make technology more addictive. He completely ignores his wife (Kate Mara) who just survived cancer and mostly ignores their teenage son. Then Rudd’s charming local weatherman moves in down the street and platonically sweeps Robinson off his feet. But Robinson has no chill, and the burgeoning friendship implodes…and mayhem ensues.
The inventory of newly listed homes in the Bay Area is higher than I’ve seen in many months. The good news is that the quality of homes for sale matches the quantity. Here are four exceptional homes that I’m excited to tour with clients.
