Issue #1: Welcome to The Silvert Lining
As this heat wave continues, we're looking at homes with pools.
Welcome to the inaugural issue of my newsletter! The Silvert Lining is a place where I will be talking about real estate, cool homes for sale, things I’m looking forward to, and how I’ve been spending my time. In addition to this newsletter, I’m also posting regularly on Instagram. You can follow me at Dan Silvert Homes.
This incredible Julia Morgan home is for sale for the first time in 50 years. The home was built in 1908 and was originally owned by Morgan herself. 2816 Derby Street is listed at $1,875,000 by my Keller Williams Luxury colleague Claudia Mills. While we’re talking about Julia Morgan, if you have not been to Hearst Castle you should make plans to visit ASAP. I personally think visiting between late November and New Year’s is the best time as the entire estate is adorned for the holidays, including some truly massive Christmas trees that are decorated to the hilt. You know it’s good when a Jewish guy is raving about Christmas trees.

These sweltering temps in the Bay Area have me looking at homes with pools. A heat advisory would be more tolerable if I was lounging in a pool with an icy drink. Let’s dive in (pun intended) to my favorite East Bay homes with pools:
This $1,550,000 home in Concord is built for entertaining and has a large backyard with a pool. It was boiling in Concord this week so a pool would equal instant popularity.
Let me know if you are looking for a new home, and I can create a customized search based on your wants and needs that will email you homes that meet your search criteria. You can schedule time with me to discuss your search for a new home or selling your current home by emailing me at DanSilvertHomes@gmail.com. DRE #01963734

Fall is my favorite time of year and I’ve been filling my days with concerts, movies, and watching sports. I recently saw Billy Bragg at the Palace of Fine Arts and Chuck Prophet at the Hopmonk Tavern in Novato. I spent Friday afternoon at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass seeing Devandra Banhart and Cat Power on the Towers of Gold stage. San Francisco is unseasonably hot for October and, while I’m ready for some cooler temperatures, sitting outside picnicking and listening to live music on a warm Friday afternoon was the best.
I only learned that fall is now synonymous with “spooky season” last year. How long has this been a thing? If “spooky season” is more your thing, I recommend seeing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice at the theater. I didn’t think we needed a Beetlejuice sequel and was reluctant to see this movie at the theater, but I really enjoyed the practical effects and laughed many times. It also helped that I saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice at the New Parkway, which has my favorite movie theater popcorn. After finishing one delicious bowl of popcorn at the New Parkway, you may think you need a second bowl. Try to resist as this will be a mistake; there is such a thing as too much delicious popcorn. I learned this through experience.
I’m happy the NHL and NFL seasons have commenced. I’m lukewarm on MLB in general right now. That said, I am rooting for the Padres in the postseason.
I will be hosting an open at 429 61st Street in Oakland for my Keller Williams Luxury colleague Claudia Mills on Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4:30 PM. This home is a beautifully renovated 1916 charmer in Rockridge. Come by and say hello!
